Living Colour 'Plastic People' (Rocafort)
4th June 2018
'Plastic People' / 'Plastic People (instrumental)'
The mid 70's was a perfect time in music, it's the culmination of analogue production technology before the new wave of synths and recording techniques etc came in, consequently music in all genres sounded just great! Look at anything 72-75, blues, funk, soul jazz, rock etc and you'll find rich and wonderfully produced music. Which is exactly what we find here on the welcomed reissue on Rocafort of this fabulous boogie/funk gem from Living Colour. An utterly funky Fender Rhodes (cranked up to sound like a clav!) led groover with upfront soulful vocals from writer Tony Kalangis that has the kind of arrangement that could have only been written in the mid 70s, it would sit perfectly alongside 'Bump & Hustle Music' and the like. Pure sunshine music, and comes complete with an instrumental on the flip. DEFINITELY going in my box!
