Boca's back...and he's fabulously funky fresh with this nugget. Roping in the talents of two of his much-loved collaborators, legendary NYC wordsmith Emskee and the mighty deck maestro that is DJ Woody for the lead track '45s'. The flavour here is class, garage-electro-hip hop is how I could best describe the vibe, and I can certainly detect Boca's admiration for the likes of Edan in the production here. Driven by a bluesy guitar riff with shufflin' beats, the groove is sprinkled with inspired cuts, electro bleeps n' effects, and vocal snippets. And naturally, Emskee absolutely smashes the verse, delivering a rap flow that rides the rhythm perfectly, talkin' about what we all love. So what's not to love? (that's a rhetorical question, and the answer is nothing, it's brilliant).

Flip the vinyl for 2 cuts in the beats outing 'Ringo's Lesson' featuring some instruction from the man himself, plus an instrumental of '45s', but it doesn't stop there. If you grab the vinyl from Boca's Bandcamp, you get a further 4 tracks with the digital download, a remix, remix instrumental, acapella, and an extra track in 'Chew Valley Breaks'. It's a Boca Bonus baby!

In many respects no bonus tracks are needed, if this was a 1 sided pressing it would still be utterly essential, '45s' is a slice of classic Boca on top form. I can clearly imagine him rocking doubles of this when he's back behind the decks this summer, with a packed dancefloor responding with pure joy, it's one of those tracks.

Art lovers are treated here too with the cover illustration by acclaimed artist 45RPM which completes this package beautifully.
