Well now, here’s a release that has found us jumping up and down frantically and challenging each other to the best cartwheels in the field (I won). Such is the effect that producer DJ Pnut’s recorded output has on our general wellbeing. Her latest forty-five features two tracks lifted from her forthcoming LP entitled ‘Semi Live Entertainment’. If uptempo drums and a bassline that thumps are your bag than this release is all you need to add rocket fuel to a party thanks to Pnut’s ear for what works in the club. On ‘Hotter Than Hades’ we get a measure of where DJ Pnuts’ head is at. We’re treated to a sonic b-boy blast for the senses complete with a killer brass section underpinned with a frenetic breakbeat pattern. On the flip ‘Rhodes To Heaven’ the producer treats us to a moody psych-tinged cut with those signature b-boy drums ever present. Watch the dancefloor blow up when this drops.
