A very welcome issue on 7" vinyl of 4 tracks from the man behind the outstanding LP 'Rhythm of Life', an album that sat at the top table when the acid jazz scene was in full force. Naturally the A side of this gorgeous full colour sleeve double pack has the stand out track from the stand out album - 'Sweet Power Your Embrace' - leading the way, but in it's promo only OG 7" form that came out on Chiaroscuro Records from 1977. And if you wanted that be prepared to shell out a lot of money! A joyous slice of uplifting soul/boogie/jazz fusion that utilises the multi-instrumentalist talents of James to stunning effect, it's no wonder that this was (and still is) an anthem. The flip of record 1 features an alternate version of the uptempo 'Free', a blistering bongo led boogie workout with a driving bassline sitting upfront loud and proud. On record 2 'I've Got My Eyes On You' features vocalist Clarice Taylor upon a bed of textured jazz fusion whilst 'Slick City' attains perfection wthout breaking a sweat. An absolutely beautiful release in every way. Buy it!
