Magma 'Dusty Donuts' Edition 45s bag

Magma
'Dusty Donuts' Edition 45s bag
Retail price: €99
/ Released early November 2017

Fellow 45 Live member Marc Hype of Dusty Donuts in Germany has entered the fray of DJ designed and endorsed record bags. Teaming up with the universally respected Magma who make a fantastic range of DJ products, bags, flight cases and trolleys for the vinyl DJ (and digital DJ), Marc, along with the design team at Magma have created an excellent bag at a great price that confidently achieves everything you might want it to do.

Fitting 150 7" records (that's a 15-hour set!) which is more than enough to have choice and set versatility for most gigs. The 2 square compartment design of the bag is welcomed and well thought out, enabling you to have all the records going in one direction or split, very useful if there's only a small space next to the decks in cramped DJ booths. Its soft case design is reinforced and padded just enough to give it some rigidity without adding weight and ample protection for your prized vinyl, and also comes with tough spiked feet pads for sure-footedness. The protective flaps all have velcro that anchors them in place whether closed or open which is a nice touch, and it also comes with a trolley loop for airport ease if travelling with a 12" case on a trolley or suitcase with a handle. Naturally, there are pockets for headphones, middles, 45s slipmats and a few extra bits and bobs plus handles and a detachable shoulder strap. And once closed up by its wrap around cover emblazoned with the Dusty Donuts logo, it sure looks the part too.

  • Two outer accessory pockets for Headphones, needle-case and adapters
  • Separate mesh pocket for slipmat storage
  • Convenient carrying-handle and ergonomic shoulder-strap
  • Trolley-Sling

Personally, I have built up quite the collection of 45s bags/boxes, almost mirroring my daughter's obsession with bags, why? Because one can never have enough bags! Each one will have a particular use that it's best suited to, the small wooden box for local gigs of an hour or 2, the full-on flight case for extended travel and the (painfully expensive but gorgeous) Tucker and Bloom Rich Medina, not to mention a smaller flight case, smaller soft bag and a Gravis 45s bag (which actually needed home-made reinforcement to reduce sag!). I would expect most working DJs will also have a collection of bag/boxes, so where will this Magma bag sit? Most likely as a go-to bag for many. The combination of features, price and versatility really do make this hard to beat. But in the interest of impartiality and fairness, I've tried hard to identify any downsides to this design...I couldn't find any.

This Dusty Donuts edition bag is limited to just 150 units worldwide and is sure to be snapped up so you should act quickly if you want one. This begs the question of what happens when it's gone? What will the next 'edition' bag be? I have a suggestion!
n.b there is also a standard black version and a tasty camo one too.

Great work Marc and Magma, you may have just created an industry standard with this bag.
