Myra Barnes - The Message From The Soul Sisters (Soopastole)
10th December 2018
Soopastole
A: Myra Barnes - "The Message From The Soul Sisters"
B: Barbara Gwen - "Right On (To The Street Called Love)"
(Soopastole)
Soopastole continues to mine the funk heavyweights on this, his twelfth round of dancefloor friendly edits. He’s selected two sister funk cuts this time out that will once again serve the DJ well in that they’re constructed with the DJ in mind. A nice, loud pressing underpinned with some fat back drums for maximum effect. All done in that unique Soopastole fashion that we have come to know and love.
First out the gate is Myra Barnes’ “The Message From The Soul Sisters”. A classic laying-down-the-law type message originally recorded for King Records in 1970 and produced of course by James Brown. On the flip, Barbara Gwen’s "Right On (To The Street Called Love)" is a classic Chicago groove originally released in the same year on New Chicago Sound Records.
Both have been given that Soopasoul stamp that I’m sure even Mr. Please Please himself would approve of. Strictly limited to 300 copies, this 45 is guaranteed to be snapped up if the other Soopastole edit 45s are anything to go by so don’t hang around to pay beefed up Discogs prices.
