'Miami' / 'Miami (Retro Roland Riso Power Edit)'
(Matasuna)
Latin funk is an irrisistable sound, especially when it's gritty, as it undoubtably is, but this one is extra RAW so goes straight into the playbox!
Shambolic yet tight, Porfi Jiménez's 'Miami' basically struts down the street with attitude, brushing aside all lesser tracks in the way. Its heavy heavy heavy percussion lays the foundation for a killer arrangement and production, seriously upfront horns taking the spotlight throughout with subtle rhythm guitar, and more of a rock guitar solo somehow working in a funk setting, before the groove resume's its dominance. Mic drop...
Flip for a beefed-up beats power edit from Retro Roland Riso, keeping the structure and vibe intact, this simply does what it says on the tin. Big phat extra percussive elements, a few little looped groove parts, and this drops into more of a beats set of contemporary cuts without losing any ooommpphhhh, cue nasty face.
Naturally and predictably, this one is flying off the shelves, so act fast.
