Oh happy day! Two of my favourite 45s get the Nola remix treatment on one 7", and it immediately becomes a mainstay in my playbox for ever more. The soulful and rockin' dancefloor pleasing 'Mean Man' from Betty Harris is beefed up by the Prof, adding tough drums and some subtle cuts and samples for a contemporary feel, plus nice clean extended drum outro for maximum mix possibilities, so TIGHT! The B side (which should really be an AA side) sees The Allergies take on Robert Parker's 'Everybody's Hip Huggin', a fabulous swinging R&B/funk cut (and a cheap one too, only £3 or so for an OG, we like that!). Once again, The Allergies perfectly show their soulful side fused with BBoy sensibilities in teasing this into a spicily sampled beats heavy dancefoor winner, this too having a tidy extended outro for mixing in the next track. Both cuts most definitely aimed at the DJ and excatly the kind of sureshot fodder that many will happily and eagerly add to their crates. Love it!
