The powerhouse that is Smoove has turned his gaze towards Astrud Gilberto's version the Jorge Ben über classic 'Take It Easy My Brother Charlie' and reworked it into a beats version. Some might say it's sacrilege to mess with such a classic, but it's done before with a number of Drum & Bass versions out there, Drumagick for example. The rhythm structure of the original does lend itself to D&B maybe a little better than beats for remix purposes, but Smoove manages to tie it down sweetly with a few slick breakdowns. The flip features a dub which at the time of writing is unavailable to listen to, oi, Smoove.... (I'll edit the review if I can grab a listen!)
So maybe not for hardcore fans of Brazilian music and Latin freaks, but for DJs that meander through various styles with an emphasis on beats, this is a tidy edit that will surely please a party crowd dancefloor. Only 150 copies on the Bandcamp page with no repress, act now if this is your bag.
