Cordial Recordings have this knack of unearthing the most infectious soul cuts in existance and delivering them to the masses. Case in point being this release from Sons Of Slum. This seven piece ensemble, who many regard as Chicago's finest live act of the 70's, are Illinois' best kept secret but not anymore thanks to Cordial. It's plainly evident that their live energy and enthusiasm that they're known for translates so well over to wax and the lead track here, entitled 'Music Is Message' , is proof of that. Super charged soul with a message, 'Music Is Message' is a firm favourite here at 45 Live HQ.
"Show Me Tell Me" is a haunting infectious soul cut that show's the group's emotional side as the lead singer grapples to come to terms with his emotional connection to his lover and needs reassurance.
It's hard to believe that their second album album was never released and currently sits in storage at Capitol Records. 'Music Is Message' and 'Show Me Tell Me' are the first releases from their third album that they recorded that will be out on Cordial Recordings in the future.
