Well here is some good news to share for those of you who shelter under a rock from one end of the year to the next. Purveyors of that razor sharp boogie sound Austin Boogie Crew have in their wisdom decided to press up one of their most celebrated releases in their rich back catalogue. This one right here is a keeper and for those that know, I can see you grinning knowingly. It’s fitting we discuss this release during a leap year February and if nothing else this track should provide you with some comfort if things don’t go your way in the love stakes. The artist in question is Starship Connection and their nod to one of the scene’s forefathers Zapp & Roger. ‘Heartbreaker’ is that modern funk monster that bangs …. HARD! Producer dream team B.Bravo & Teeko have been bossing the local San Fran scene with their unique blend of modern funk productions and this debut for the Austin Boogie Crew label just cements their rep. Bassline thumps, talkbox harmonies and drums that hit hard, it’s a resounding yes from us. We just hope there’s more to come from this duo on ABC Records in 2024.
