The Lions 'Think (About It)' (Mukatsuku)
1st May 2021
'Think (About It)' / 'Think (About It) (Instr)'
Nik at Mukatsuku first told us about this a few months back, and we immediately opened our big mouths to shout about it, which was too early! But now the cat is well and truly out of the bag with Koco dropping it in one of his magical Instagram videos.
Back in 2008, The Lions recorded the universally loved album 'Jungle Struttin' on Ubiquity, packed full of rubber dub roots reggae which has absorbed a healthy dose of soul and funk to produce such a well-rounded album. Amongst its many highlights was the Lyn Collins funk/soul masterpiece 'Think (About It)' getting The Lions' treatment and boy oh boy do they do a great job of it. Made perfect not just by the way the band skank up the raw soul/funk of the original, but equally through the spectacular vocal of Noelle who captures the gritty pained delivery of Lyn's original. Its total is not just pure reggae, it's pure soul and funk too, a result that is no easy feat. Coupled with an exclusive instrumental version on the B side which is just great to have.
This is the first time this track has made it to a dinked 45, crazy right? So thank you Mukatsuku, this utterly essential 45 will no doubt be snapped up, ready to rock BBQs, summer parties and even festivals as they begin to open up. Released 28th May, bookmark the date, get the alert locked in, this one will fly.
