We’re going going back back to Melbourne as The Traffic take on a Dr. Dre and Tupac west coast staple in the shape of ‘California Love’ on Choi Records. There’s absolutely no sign of creative juices drying up by even the slightest drop as the group give us a timely reminder that they are in it for the long haul. Anyone with even the faintest interest in their unique brand of funk will welcome this news. For those who are just hearing about The Traffic for the first time well then this is the perfect 45 to get you acquainted and to get your collection started.
On the flip the group treat the listener to an original composition entitled ‘No Through Road’. From out the traps comes a breaks laden sureshot that has us wondering what else is up their sleeves in terms of original output. Classic breakbeat funk that’s ripe for DJ’s to spin and allow the clubbers to make their mind up. I’m sure they’ll come to the same conclusion about how well this works on the dancefloor.
