Thomas Haak - Lalo Shuffle (Rework) (Resense)

Thomas Haak
Lalo Shuffle (Rework) / Magic Hancock (Instrumental Essence) (feat. vs. BOW-tanic)

(Resense)

What do you see in this picture? I see a gentleman with a spring in his step, skipping jovially down the street whistling away to himself the very track we’re about to wax lyrical on. This man is safe in the knowledge that he has secured, in his mind at least, the hottest forty-five in existence right now. He is a very contented gentleman indeed.

The record in question is by Berlin-based DJ and producer Thomas Haak (who is not the aforementioned gentleman) who has signed on the dotted line for one of our favourite labels Resense. Haak has emerged from the studio with a fresh rinse of Lalo Schifrin’s ‘Ape Shuffle’ Shuffle (Theme from ‘Planet of the Apes’)’. His disco nugget goes by the title ‘Lalo Shuffle (Rework)’ and it hits the sweet spot let me tell ya. Combine a heavy-hitting 4/4 kick drum, a looping, unnerving Dr. Zira gasp and Schifrin’s cinematic flute chimes into the mix for a cine-disco heat rock that bangs. On the flip entitled ‘Magic Hancock (Instrumental Essence) (feat. vs. BOW-tanic)’, the producer takes Herbie Hancock’s ‘Magic Number’ and raises the pitch while giving Sylvester’s vocal a rest. It’s another disco sureshot from Thomas Haak.

This limited forty-five is available from the Resense Bandcamp page.
