OH YES! How on earth did I miss the 45 from last year? Probably because it was only on Bandcamp and some select stores in Japan. But thankfully DJ Aeon Seven put 'On The Spot' in his recent mix for 45 Live Radio and onto my radar it shone.
This is 100% cookin' big band FUNK, full of grit and raw soul, exactly how it should be. Driven along with urgent horn parts, sweet organ and guitar and absolutely slammin' percussion, the arrangement never lets you catch a breath. It's a 'nasty-face' groover of the highest calibre and is the kind of modern funk that sets the standard. BANGER is what I'm saying here, totally LOVE. IT.
Oh, the A-side ain't bad too, consider that a bonus!
For us UK residents, I've smoothed the way for Parkside Records to get some stock at Juno to avoid those painful US shipping rates, keep an eye out as it could well be limited stock.
