London’s Expansion Records continue to shine a light on some of soul, funk and disco’s often overlooked gems from the 70’s and 80’s and on this seven inch the focus is turned to a dancefloor classic in the shape of percussionist Willie Bobo’s ‘Always There’. Lifted from his ‘Hell Of An Act To Follow’ LP from 1978, this instrumental version of the Ronnie Laws disco staple from the Latin Jazz kingpin Bobo ticks all boxes in terms of what works on the dancefloor. Produced by Wayne Henderson and originally only available on a promo twelve inch, this seven inch version is a welcome release for DJs and collectors alike.
On the flip "Comin' Over Me", Mr. Bobo finds his voice and delivers a heart wrenching rare groove cut that complete this double sider with both tracks on 45 for the very first time.
